BURIALS
For over thirty years, I’ve carried out a silent, personal rite: the act of burying words. Words written with intention—offered to the invisible, to what has no shape or name. Sometimes these writings were directed inward, sometimes to something beyond me, but always as a gesture of inner dialogue.
Over time, this act became a living practice—a way of sealing what is sacred. I do not follow inherited rituals or formal structures; this rite evolved intuitively, as a response to the need for transformation, clarity, and reverence.
To bury, in this context, is not to hide, but to safeguard—to place something in a sacred space. The gesture opens a channel to the unseen, giving weight to the word, allowing it to act upon the subconscious. Each burial may be accompanied by symbolic elements: stones, leaves, flowers, seeds, a flame, or a meaningful object—offerings that give beauty and resonance to the moment.

The place and time are as important as the act itself. Dawn lends itself to new beginnings. Dusk is suited for closure and release. These rites are most often performed in solitude, with little or no documentation—held quietly, as deep processes often are.
Though it began as a private, intuitive practice, I now recognize in it a performative and artistic dimension. At times, I have accompanied these acts with drawings and watercolors. Burials lives within my body of work as a visual and ritual practice—one that speaks to a timeless human impulse: the need to mark transitions, to communicate with the unknown, and to give symbolic form to what words alone cannot hold.
